Together in The Storm - Building Resilient Communities with Hope and Trust

WHY! The purpose of the Öckerö Lighthouse Conversation 2026 is to strengthen resilience, trust, and hope in a time of profound global and local disruption. We want to facilitate new perspectives through thoughts, ideas and friendships. This will open up for new possibilities we did not see before.

An overall goal is to bring hope into our hearts and minds for the future. It is not to have consensus, but clarity, connection and shared responsibility, so that participants leave better equipped to contribute to resilient and trustworthy societies in their own contexts.

HOW! The conference brings together international leaders and practitioners from business, media, academia, government, civil society, NGOs and faith communities to share knowledge, lived experience, and practical insight into how societies can withstand crisis and remain humane.

A central element of the 2026 conversation is the participation of a delegation from Ukraine. Their presence is both an expression of solidarity and an opportunity to learn directly from people with first-hand experience of resilience under extreme pressure, insights that are highly relevant for participants from many different contexts. Through dialogue across sectors and perspectives, the conference aims to:

• deepen understanding of how communities resist polarization, disinformation, and fear.

• learn from real-world experiences of resilience in conflict-affected and fragile contexts.

• explore the conditions that enable local communities to function – economically, socially, and relationally – under pressure.

• identify concrete practices that foster trust, cooperation, and long-term resilience.

WHAT! As before we will work with a dynamic program, together with the participants in the room. Therefor every person should be invited as a possible contributor to the conversation. The stage is important, but even more important are the conversations around the tables.

The Lighthouse Conversation also provides space for personal reflection and development. We invite people to walk in the beautiful surroundings.

What we want to do more is to follow up insights, stories and outcomes from previous gatherings and try to strengthen continuity and long-term learning.

Alongside a strong and relevant program, the conference continues to cultivate its distinctive character through cultural expressions, encounters with nature, shared meals, and time for meaningful relationships.

Together, these elements create a holistic experience – making the Öckerö Lighthouse Conversation not only a conference, but a space for renewal, depth, and lasting connection.
